NEHALEM BAY MEET THE CHIEF FIRE AND RESCUE PERRY SHERBAUGH 36375 HWY 101 N. • NEHALEM, OREGON 97131 • 503-368-7590 Chief Perry Sherbaugh started his career as a volunteer fire fighter with Manzanita Fire Department in 1986. He served as a Captain with the department and in 1994 became the first Public Safety Officer for the City of Manzanita. In addition to being Fire Chief he also worked as a police officer for the city. In 1998 the City of Manzanita combined the two departments into one and formed the Manzanita Department of Public Safety. Chief Sherbaugh was appointed the Police and Fire Chief and continued in that positioned until August of 2009 when he was hired by the newly formed Nehalem Bay Fire and Rescue District. Chief Sherbaugh oversaw the construction of the District's two new fire stations and continues to modernize District apparatus and equipment. Chief Sherbaugh enjoys working with the District volunteers, staff and working with the Emergency Volunteer Corp. of Nehalem Bay on Emergency Preparedness.
