Chief Paul Olheiser has been in the Fire Service for 35 years, starting during his tour in the US Marine Corps in the late 70’s. Chief Olheiser was a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT with Jefferson County Fire District in Madras, worked as a Fire-medic at Warm Springs Fire & Safety, and a Captain at Black Butte Ranch Fire District prior to coming to Knappa in 1991 as our first career Fire Chief. In addition, Chief Olheiser has been involved in the Oregon Fire Instructor’s Association, Oregon Fire Chief’s Association, District Liaison Officer with DPSST, served as the Clatsop County Fire Chief for 7 years, and serves as the Fire Service Training Coordinator for Clatsop County. Of all of the duties he is responsible for, by far his favorite is the interaction at the schools during Fire Prevention Week.
