FRIDAYEXTRA ! The Daily Astorian Friday, August 26, 2016 Weekend Edition GOING TO THE DOGS Astorian Ashley Nimmo’s adopted Labrador-pit bull mix Cinnamon is 11 years old. The Daily Astorian Tara Dyrset’s 5-year-old daughter, Dai- sy, and 3-year-old pit bull mix, Jenny, who was rescued from the shelter. In honor of National Dog Day today, The Daily Astorian put the call out for local pooch pictures. We fetched more 103 photos of pups and one ferret. • According to www.nationaldogday.com, the day celebrates all kinds of canines and works to promote the many dogs that need to be rescued. The day also honors family dogs and working dogs. • One thing is clear, dog pals on the Columbia-Pacifi c love their best friends. • Thanks to all those Spartacus is a 4-month-old American bulldog living with Raena Harris Herzog. who played along. Miniature pinscher Meme is almost 10 and lives with Deb and Ken Ross. Melanie Hansen’s American bulldog Marley is 3 1/2 months old. Lucy Lew, 8, mixed breed terrier adopt- ed from Clatsop County Animal Shelter by Linda Long and Al Jaques of Astoria. Penny, about 8, adopted from the Clat- sop County Animal Shelter in Sept 2010 by Holly Jeffrey’s family of Astoria. Murphy, 4, is Gary and Angela McDaniel’s miniature pinscher/Chihuahua mix ad- opted from the shelter. In the front is Megan Evans’ dog Kaia, 1. She’s a border collie and husky mix. Anita Jensen’s pup Samantha, 6. Zorro hangs out with Katie Bjork. Stanley, 5, is a terrier mix, living with Emily Borup of Warrenton. Sawyer is Hannah Johnson’s 4-year-old German shorthaired pointer.
