Del Thompson went to
work for OK Rubber
Welders in 1952. Then in
1962 he bought the
business. In 1978 Klyde
took over as manager and
co-owner with Harriet Thompson. He bought out
Harriet in 1997, so Klyde and his wife Mary Kaye are
the present owners.
In 1983, Klyde was one of the founders of the
NW Tire Factory Group, which has grown to over
200 locations in 33 years. In 2015, Tire Factory
merged with Point S Tire and Auto Group,
bringing the number of locations in North
America and Europe to over 4,000.

Ardelle’s Beauty Salon opened May, 1956 in the Astor Building,
where it has remained for 60 years. Ardelle Phillips is owner of
the establishment and her three stylists are Kimberly Lund,
Cindy Rudolfi and Irene Ferguson.
Ardelle’s Salon specializes in innovative hair styling, color
specialties, corrective hair color, and of course, beautiful hair cuts.
The firm was established in 1948. It was owned and operated by
Forrest Vaughn until 1984 when it was purchased by Dick Bartoldus.
On January 1, 1996 it was sold to Chuck Thompson, Mark C. Thompson
and Mike Thomas and is now located at North Tongue Point. City
