Finland needed

NASELLE, Wash. —
Four researchers from the
Migration Centre of Swed-
ish-speaking Finland are vis-
iting Naselle, Ilwaco and
Astoria in the middle of
June to research and docu-
ment migration to and from
Swedish-speaking Finland.
To accomplish this task,
they hope to interview peo-
ple who have their roots in
Swedish-speaking Finland.
The center is a regional
department of the Finnish
Institute of Migration, and
its headquarters, founded in
1974, are located in Tuku,
Finland. The center pro-
motes the collection, stor-
age and documentation of
material relating to migra-
tion to and from Finland
and maintains and provides
information services about
migration.

in Swedish-speaking Fin-
land and are interesting in
talking with these research-

Astoria School District
appreciates JP Plumbing

The Astoria School Dis-
trict Board of Directors rec-
ognized JP Plumbing and
owner Jim Forester with
a certiicate of apprecia-
tion at the monthly board
meeting May 11. The com-
pany provides a high qual-
ity of service, and in the past
few years, JP Plumbing has
helped the district on eve-
nings and weekends restore
or repair water service in
order to have school on time
the next day.
The company has also
donated Forester’s profes-
sional guidance and advice,
and he has overseen projects
at various schools, allow-
ing the district to minimize
costs while making the cor-
rect repairs, avoiding further
costs down the road.
