JUNE 9, 2016 // 3 ‘Junior Shanghaied in Astoria’ returns ASTORIA — The Astor Street Opry Company’s semi-annual “Junior Shang- haied in Astoria” musical is back, running for two week- ends starting June 10. “Junior Shanghaied” is an ASOC original musical melodrama adapted for talented youth thespians to perform from ASOC’s origi- nal “Shanghaied in Astoria” musical, which is entering it 32nd season this summer. “Junior Shanghaied” is just as fun and memorable as the original musical, with many ASOC Playhouse traditions like raffl es and popcorn, so it will appeal to the whole family no matter their age. Directed by Bill Carr, with music direction by Dena Tu- veng and ChrisLynn Taylor, and piano music by Lorain Trzyna, “Junior Shang- haied” also features original “Shanghaied” choreography by Carleta Lewis Allen led by Stephanie Osborn.
