Comets 55, Mustangs 20 NASELLE, Wash. — Erik Lund scored 11 points and Hayden Gud- mundsen added 10 for Naselle, in a 55- 20 win over North River Friday. Naselle outscored North River 36-7 over the second and third quarters. Girls Basketball Lady Fish 48, Mooks 23 Astoria bounced back from a league-opening loss at Banks with an easy win over Tillamook Friday at the Brick House, 48-23. The Cheesemakers ran into quick foul trouble, and the game was never close after the opening minutes. Astoria took a 7-0 lead, all on free throws. Tillamook’s Jordan Zweifel had three fouls in the ¿rst quarter, and the Lady Fish built a 15-2 lead after one period. Astoria’s 18-0 run in the second quarter had the Fishermen in front 33-2 at halftime. Sam Hemsley and Chloee Hunt each scored 11 points for Astoria, which ¿n- ished 18-of-27 at the free throw line, to Tillamook’s 3-for-4. View more photos online at dailyastorian.com/sports Braves 31, Gulls 9 SEASIDE — The stunner of the night in 4A girls basketball took place in Seaside, where Banks upset No. 2-ranked Seaside, 31-9. The Gulls lost leading scorer Mad- di Utti to an ankle sprain just minutes into the game, and the Braves gradually took advantage. Utti returned to the game before halftime, but did not play in the second half. The Braves turned a 15-8 halftime lead into a 23-9 advantage after three quarters, and allowed just one point for the Gulls in the second half. Loggers 51, Lions 29 KNAPPA — The Knappa girls bas- ketball team made it a 34-point turn- around from the last time they played Life Christian, as the Lady Loggers posted a 51-29 win over the Lions, following their 42-30 loss in the last meeting. Kaitlyn Landwehr tossed in 17 points with 12 rebounds to lead the Loggers. Paris Vanderburg added 12 points and seven boards, while Bailey Corder chipped in nine points. Jays 21, C.S. Lewis 20 JEWELL — Jewell overcame a scoreless third quarter by outscoring C.S. Lewis 4-3 in the fourth, for a dra- matic 21-20 win. Aly Littlepage scored 10 points, with 10 rebounds, three steals and three blocks to lead the Lady Jays, who held a 17-9 lead at halftime. Emma Guillen pulled down seven rebounds for Jewell. Eagles 39, Lady Jays 33 JEWELL — Two players fouled out, leaving Jewell with four players at the end of the game Friday, in a 39-33 loss to Crosshill Christian. Emma Guillen and Aly Littlepage combined for 25 points for Jewell. Fishermen 66, Navs 50 LACEY, Wash. — Ilwaco’s trio of Hannah Ellsworth, MacKenzie Kaech and Madeline Jacobson outscored Northwest Christian by themselves Saturday, in a 66-50 win over the Nav- igators. Ellsworth scored 20 points, Kaech added 19 and Jacobson tossed in 16 to combine for 55 in the victory. Comets 57, Mustangs 10 NASELLE, Wash. — The Lady Comets built a 29-3 halftime lead, on their way to a 57-10 win over North River Friday. Kendra Leeland had 13 points and Tayler Ford added 11 for Naselle, as all 10 players scored for the Comets. Eagles sweep the Warriors PORTLAND — Catlin Gabel swept a Lewis & Clark League basketball doubleheader Friday, with a pair of vic- tories over Warrenton. In the girls’ game, Catlin Gabel re- mained in a tie for third place in the league standings with a 42-23 win over the Warriors. The Catlin Gabel boys are also in third place, improving to 8-3 with a 54- 45 victory over Warrenton. The Warriors still managed to play the Eagles much closer than the ¿rst meeting, a 62-38 Catlin Gabel win.
