The shuttle broke down; nonetheless, all of the approximately 100 guests made it to the ceremony, including the groom’s grandmothers, both in their 90s. Escorted to the wedding site by groomsmen, the ladies were the crowning addition to crowd. “They were champs,” said Allie. After traditional vows, Brian slipped a vintage-style diamond on Allie’s ring finger and she a traditional gold band on his. And as Mr. and Mrs. Richardson were announced, along with enthusiastic cheers of approval from their guests and picture taking by photographer Maya Dooley, there was hooting and hollering and calls of congratulations from the nets. The reception took place in Nehalem at the White Clover Grange. “The beautiful, historic building was neglected, but we fell in love with its charm.” Both families got busy cleaning, landscaping and decorating, Allie said. “Brian and his father strung Edison blub lights from the ceiling, creating a romantic ambiance. And there were various family antiques as décor. It was definitely a group effort getting this place up and wedding ready. “Portland’s Elephants Delicatessen catered, providing a fabulous spread despite arriving an hour late due to forest fires over Highway 26. My mother owns Manzanita Sweets, so of course, we had an impressive candy table. Our wedding cake was a delicious coconut cake, our favorite, from Simply Cakes by Jae in Cannon Beach,” Allie said. The newlyweds had a short honeymoon in California’s Napa Valley — they both love wine. And they will spend some time in Mexico later in the year. The couple lives in Carlton, the heart of the Willamette Valley, where Brian owns and operates Vinbound Marketing, a web development and winery marketing company. Allie is an emergency room nurse in Newberg. “After six years of courtship, a two-year engagement, some time with jobs separating us, it’s remarkable. I think that our love for each other is aligned,” said the new Mrs. Richardson. Allie was dressed in a vintage-inspired, off-white lace wedding dress. RIVER & SEA WEDDINGS 2016 | 5
