The event will be held in the Community Room of the Sea- side Public Library, and there will be book sales offered by Beach Books. The orca — otherwise known as the killer whale — is one of Earth’s most intelli- gent animals. Sophisticated, orcas have languages, cultures and even long-term memories. Their capacity for echoloca- tion is nothing short of a sixth sense. They are also benign and gentle, which makes the story of the captive orca in- dustry and the endangerment of their population in Puget Sound that much more tragic. In “Of Orcas and Men,” a compelling mix of cultural history, environmental report- LQJ DQG VFLHQWL¿F UHVHDUFK Neiwert explores this extraor- dinary species and its occa- sionally fraught relationship with humans.
