Features their 29th annual miniatures show, “Raining Cats and Dogs”
The Cannon Beach Gallery’s contribution to
“Stormy
Weather”
festival
is
their
29th annual miniatures show, “Raining Cats and
Dogs”. This is a juried show provides opportunities
for artists at all stages of their careers, in a show
so diverse it is impossible not to find something
that you love. The show also features the work of
Paul Miller, combining his quirky printmaking with
his charming, tiny carved wooded dogs.
The show opens for the beginning of “Stormy
Weather” festival on Friday the November 6, with
a reception on the following evening, Saturday,
November 7, 5 - 7pm. CBAA invites you to come
and choose your favorite work, and will be giving
a ‘Peoples Choice” award at an artist’s breakfast
on Sunday, November 8.
The Cannon Beach Gallery is a program of
Cannon Beach Arts Association (CBAA), showing
significant regional art for the benefit of
its
resident
and
visiting
public.
It
supports Cannon Beach’s own artists, by running
programs that enable them to develop and
flourish within that context. Long before the
Cannon Beach Gallery resided in its beautiful,
purpose built space in Mid Town, a group of civic-
minded individuals set their mind to providing a
space for local artists to exhibit their work. In 1986
the Cannon Beach Arts Association became a
501(3)(c) nonprofit, with the mission of
“enhancing the vitality of the arts in Cannon
Beach and the surrounding region.”
The CBAA's first space was on the second floor
of Sandpiper Square. When this became
unavailable, the CBAA’s creative solution was a
tiny gallery in a trailer, called “Art in a Box”. In
1994 the CBAA moved the Cannon Beach Gallery
to its current home. Its history, not only tells of the
high regard this gallery has established within the
community, but also the determination of the
past and present board and their commitment to
its mission, the region’s artists and its audience.
