The Cannon Beach Gallery is a program of Cannon Beach Arts Association (CBAA), showing significant regional art for the benefit of its resident and visiting public. It supports Cannon Beach’s own artists, by running programs that enable them to develop and flourish within that context. Long before the Cannon Beach Gallery resided in its beautiful, purpose built space in Mid Town, a group of civic- minded individuals set their mind to providing a space for local artists to exhibit their work. In 1986 the Cannon Beach Arts Association became a 501(3)(c) nonprofit, with the mission of “enhancing the vitality of the arts in Cannon Beach and the surrounding region.” The CBAA's first space was on the second floor of Sandpiper Square. When this became unavailable, the CBAA’s creative solution was a tiny gallery in a trailer, called “Art in a Box”. In 1994 the CBAA moved the Cannon Beach Gallery to its current home. Its history, not only tells of the high regard this gallery has established within the community, but also the determination of the past and present board and their commitment to its mission, the region’s artists and its audience.
