2015 astoria 2015 schedule of events regatta Wednesday, Aug. 5 Saturday, Aug. 8 Astoria Regatta Junior Parade Regatta Sailboat Races 6 p.m. Downtown Astoria. Free. All weekend long The Astoria Yacht Club will be holding its annual Regatta Sail- boat Races. Saturday, wind permitting, you can view the races east of the Astoria Megler bridge, toward the Columbia River Maritime Museum. Sunday’s races will be held to the west of the bridge. Please contact the Astoria Yacht Club for more information. Thursday, Aug. 6 Queen’s Luncheon 12 p.m. Lum’s Auto Center, Warrenton. Honors 2014 Queen Claire Helligso and past Regatta Court royalty. Reservations required, Suggested donation to support court scholarship fund. Sponsored by Lum’s Auto Center. Grand Land Parade Regatta Queen’s Coronation 6 p.m. The Liberty Theater. This year’s court of four princesses will vie for the cov- eted Queen’s Crown, followed by light refreshments. Free. Sponsored by Pacific Power. Softball Tournament 8 a.m. Tapiola Park (Sat. and Sun.) Free. Hosted by Astoria Parks and Rec. Portland Royal Rosarian Rose Planting Seamen’s Memorial 11 a.m. Maritime Memorial Park. The United States Coast Guard honors all those who have dedicated their lives to the maritime industry, from military seamen to commercial fishermen. Free. 9:30 a.m. The Flavel Museum Gardens. Every year, the Royal Rosarians honor local Regatta officials with a planting of selected roses. Free. Hosted by Portland Royal Rosarian Foundation. Regatta Through the Years Gathering of Past Admirals and Presidents 1 p.m. Columbia Center, Coho Room. The chef at Columbia Memorial Hospital will cook up a delicious lunch for the past admirals and presidents of the Astoria Regatta. Reservations required, $35 per person. Sponsored by Columbia Memorial Hospital. Admiral’s Reception 6 p.m. The Liberty Theater. Join Admiral Patrick Reiten and hundreds of revelers for a swanky reception. Top local restaurants will feature signature appetizers. $20 per person or $10 per person with Regatta Pin. Sponsored by Teevin Bros. and Warrenton Fiber-Nygaard Logging. Regatta Sidewalk Faire 2 to 5 p.m. Downtown Astoria Merchants. Shop in the wonderful Astoria summer air. Free. Hosted by Astoria Downtown Historic District Association. Pancake Breakfast 8 a.m. Astoria Moose Lodge. The Moose Lodge will start your parade day right with a traditional pancake feed. Cost for adults is $8, children 12 and under, $4.50. Sponsored by Moose Lodge of Astoria. Friday, Aug. 7 12 p.m. Downtown Astoria. Join Grand Marshal Willis Van Dusen at the one of the oldest Grand Land Parade west of the Rockies. Free. Regatta 1-Mile Sprint! 11:45 a.m. at the start of the Parade route: 17th and Exchange. Free, no registra- tion required. $100 prize for top female/ male finishers. Come kick off the parade! Sponsored by Astoria Parks and Rec. Celebration Honoring Former Mayor Willis Van Dusen 3 p.m. Regatta Square. We celebrate our beloved ex-mayor and Grand Marshal of this year’s Grand Land Parade. Free cake provided by City of Astoria. Highwater Boat Parade 5:30 p.m. Columbia River Maritime Museum. Before the sun goes down, at high tide, gather with us at the 17th Street dock for the annual Regatta Boat Parade! Free. Sponsored by Englund Marine and Industrial Supply. Regatta Awards Reception After the boat parade Astoria Yacht Club, West End Mooring Basin Marina. Following the Boat Parade, there will be a reception to give awards in different categories to participants. Free. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Heritage Museum. Explore the rich history one of of the oldest festivals in the west! This special display will be shown both Saturday and Sun- day. Cost $4 for adults, $2 for children. Exhibit by Clatsop County Historical Society. Regatta Fireworks Show Regatta Square Sunday, Aug. 9 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 12th and Duane streets. Come to Regatta Square for barbecue salmon and hamburgers. Enjoy a beverage from local and national breweries in our unique Beer Garden, while listening to some entertaining music and performances. There will also be a free Fun Zone for children, with games, a bounce house and much more. The activities start right after the parade at 1 p.m. Sponsored by Ohana Media Group and Providence Seaside Hospital. Ducky Derby Dusk.
