Propst wins gold in Masters meet The Daily Astorian Astoria’s Ray Propst competed in the Portland Mas- ters Track Club Classic Meet , held June 21 at Mt. Hood Community College. Competing in the Men’s age 85-89 division, Propst took the gold medal in the high jump, clearing 42 inches for a new meet record. He also won gold in the triple jump with a leap of 16-7. Warriors fend off the Pirates, 3-2 ROCKAWAY BEACH — Warrenton held off an im- proved Neah-Kah-Nie team Wednesday night, for a 3-2 win over the Pirates in a Ju- nior State Baseball contest. The Pirates had the bas- es loaded with one out in the bottom of the seventh, before Warrenton pitcher Gavon Mc- Fadden was able to retire the ¿nal two batters. McFadden allowed just one hit with 17 strikeouts, ¿ve walks and three hit batters. Warrenton had six hits, two each for Zach Tapio and Hunter Wilson. Joe Little had a run-scor- ing single in the third inning; the Warriors scored a run in the fourth on an error; and Jake Holthusen had a triple and later scored in the sixth. Warrenton baseball is host- ing its annual Alumni Day at 10 a.m. Saturday, with ap- proximately 40 players slated to attend. Singapore 7, Astoria 5 The Singapore White Sox held a 3-2 lead going into the ¿nal inning, and ended up defeating Astoria Ford 7-5 in a late game Tuesday night at Aiken Field. Singapore scored four runs in the top of the seventh to push the lead to 7-2, before Astoria rallied with three runs in its ¿nal at-bat. Astoria Ford pitcher Kai Brown scattered four hits with two walks and three strikeouts in six innings of work, while Singapore’s Nick Sheung picked up the victory, despite giving up ¿ve runs on seven hits with 11 walks. Astoria’s Jackson Arnsdorf took the loss. At the plate, Arnsdorf reached base four times and scored a run. Astoria Ford held an early 1-0 lead, with a Trey Hage- man single scoring Ryker Helmersen. Harper Sy had a key two-run single for the Sox in the sixth.
