Jessie Nancy Ann Simpson died March 25,
2015, at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Ore.
She was born on June 25, 1939, in Astoria, Ore., to
John Birger and Jessie (Thorsen) Brandt Sr.
Jessie graduated from Astoria High School in
1957. She played the trumpet and was active in
the high school marching band, played the piano

boat. After graduating high school she worked at St.
Mary’s Hospital in Astoria as a nurse’s aide. Soon
after she married George Simpson. They celebrated
their 55th wedding anniversary in February 2015.
They made their home in Astoria for a few years,
then moved to Svensen, Ore., to raise their family
