The daughter of Pete Mulholland and Albert and Claudia Beall Bateman, she was born in Jerome, Idaho, on Aug. 20, 1936. Onie grew up in Jerome, Idaho, and graduated from Jerome High School in 1954. On March 6, 1954, she married Omer Stephens in Jerome, Idaho. They moved to Astoria, Ore., in 1955 and raised a family. In 1990, they moved their home to Hammond. Onie worked at the Astoria Clinic for 15 years, retiring in 1985. She was active in the Astoria Anchor gardening, clam digging and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. Onie was an avid Dallas Cowboys, Se- attle Mariners, and Portland Trail Blazers fan.
