Johnson Bank Building Cost :
Seven Hundred.
t
The granite .columns have been
plrced in position at the entrance
of the Johnson bnk building. They
are very handsome and will great
ly enhance the beauty of the en
trance, adding a finish to the struct
ure that will give it more the char
acter of a city buildiug thin what
is usually seen in a country town.
The 1 wo columns cost $700. They
are of red granite, and came from
Maine. They are eighteen inches
in diameter, and including the base
are 12 feet five inches long. Their
weight is 8,500 pounds.
'I hey were r lilted into position
by means of a derrick, and the
process attracted much attention, a
large crowd of people standing
around to see how the thing was
done. The effect is generally ad
mit ed, as is the whole appearance
of the building as it is gradually
unfolded with the continued work.
When completed, it will be the
star adornement of Corvallis. It
will be about three months before
the building is ready forocdupancy.

McParlaod asked me if I knew Ed
