court a divorce suit against Agnes Mc
Laren, charging cruelty. They have
nine children, all grown.
Several years after their marriage,
the couplo came to America. In their
new home ncross the Atlantic, he re
cites in his complaint, she began to
henpeck him, call him names and
otherwise mistreat him. In 1893 he
says h was driven .from his wife by
her actions, and came to Oregon. In
1911, hoping to be reconciled to her,
he went back east, but she continued
to mistreat him. He says he sees no
reason why he should still be tied by
marriage bonds to a woman with whom
