Miss Alice Ritter, in company with Mias Nellie Armstrong-, who has been a Kuest of Miss Ritter the past week, left for an extended visit in wash iaifton. They expect to visit Chehalis Willapa, South Bend and Long Beach before returning. Mrs. John Elliot and Albert Elliot and wife spent a few days at Wilholt U past week. The weather is cooler after the ex treme heat we have had. Mr. Fully and son helped Bert Shep part aad Mr. Peck put in their hay. Last week the S. S. Young People's Class met at Mr. and Mrs. Fully's and was delightfully entertained, the ev eoicg being spent in the business ses sion, conversation, games and music, ai light refreshments were served. They left for their homes at 11 P. M. Mrs. Sheppard visited her mother, Mr3. Rhodes, in Oregon City, over Sunday. Wrs. Cummins was compelled to go to the St. Vincent hospital at Port land for an operation on her eye, whicfy refused to heal properly. Mr. Benson and family have moved near Cummins' mill, where he has se cured work. Cipt. Branson and wife have return- dows to his house. Mrs. Tingle, who has been 111, Improving. Each one is different In architecture and Is comfortable, convenient and modern in every respect. Mrs. Bowers has nearly completed her bungalow near the wagon bridge. This adds greatly to the appearance of the property In that part of Gladstone. The new school house Is fast as suming Its proper shape. The roof la on and the painters have their work nearly done. The W. G. McPherson Co., of Portland Is figuring on the heating apparatus. Atauson M. Hiines. of Portland, has purchased live acres from the Glad stone Real Estate Association. Horace Williams went out to Maple Lane Monday, of this week and moved his parents to Sellwood, they having sold their property and bought at Sell wood. Mary Jane Dlckerson, died at her home In Maple Lane, Saturday, July 2,". Deceased was born at Port Royal, Kentucky, April !i, 1H20. la 18SG she moved with her father, George Gains, to Shelby County, Mo., and two years later she was married to Cosby Dlck erson. In 18(16 they started for the Oregon country, going by way of New York, New Orleans, and the Isthmus ff llangmn firrlilnt at TVrtlunH fwi sometime In August, after a journey of about three months, and has since resided In Clackamas County, except one year spent in Washington. Nine children were born to the deceased, of whom only two survive her, C. D. and W. O. Dlckerson, and besides these she leaves fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her hus band died In 1889 and she has since lived with her youngest son, W. O. Dickerson. Grandma Dlckerson unit ed with the Baptist church early in life and was always faithful in bcr be lief. The funeral services were held at the home, Rev. John M. Linden of ficiating. Interment was made in the Canemah cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. W. O.
