The curtain was painted by Joseph Yenny, of Mount Angel, and the scene represents the Falls of the Willamette as they were In 1843, when St. John's church was erected, and as they are at the present time, surrounded by mills and factor ies. At the top and in the center of the curtain is a painting of Dr. John McLoughlln, founder of Oregon City, and father of Oregon, for whom the Institute was named, and at the bot tom is painted, "1843 Oregon City 1907." The idea conveyed by the painting is Father Hillebrand's and has been cleverly carried out by the artlat, showing a part of the changes that have come to Oregon City In 64 years. Two Accidents at Clear Creek. Two painful, but fortunately not serious accidents, happened at Clear Creek Saturday. The 10-year-old son of Foreman McAllster of the Clear Creek Lumber Company, met with a broken arm by a fall and the 2-year-old boy of George Leasch, while un observed, began to play with a hatchet and cut off about half the in dex finger of the right hand and clip ped off- a small portion of the sec ond finger. 1 1 In Sec 5.
