IMPROVEMENT OF
MADISON STREET.
The residents along Madison street
north of Seventh street are nearly
united for the Improvement of that
street clear through to the Madison
street bridge. The improvement of
this street would render the property
along Madison street more valuable
and would give the residents one of
the' best streets in the city. It would
be a great boon to the people who re
side in the Kansas City addition and
would give them the best possible
means of reaching the business dis
trict of upper Seventh street.
This subject has been taken up since
the talk or proposal of the opening
up of Washington street, north and
south, from one side of the town to
the other.
The opening up of Madison street
the residents say, is a more feasible
plan, as the street could be improved
at a lower cost and the grades would
be easier for the traveling public.
No definite plan of action has been
taken by the residents along the
street, but so strong is the sentiment
that there is no doubt that some move
will be made in the near future.
It is planned to macadamize only
the 24 or 30 feet of the center of the
street and to sod and park the sides,
except at street intersections where
the full width would be improved. If
the work 13 carried out on those plans,
Madison will be a very handsome res
idence street as well as furnishing a
much needed highway from Kansas
City to Upper Seventh street
