Oregon City does ordain as follows.
Sec. 1. That the amount of the of
tclal bond to lie required of the Treas
urer of Oregon City shall be and luvv

Sec. 2. That all ordinances and
arts of ordinances in conflict here
with be and the same are hereby re
pealed. Read first time and ordered publish
ed at a regular meeting of the Council

ORDINANCE NO
An ordinance assessing the probable
tost of the laying of sewers in Sewer
District No. 5 of Oregon City, Oregon,
to the seteral lots, parts of lots and
tracts of land benefitted thereby, and
directing; an entry of such assessment
im the Docket of City Liens.
Oregon City does ordain as follows:
Section 1. That whereas, the Coun
oil of Oregon City having ascertained
and determined that the probable cort
t the laying of sewers in Sewer Dis-
Wet No. 5. of Oregon City, Oregon, as
provided for by Ordinance No. 360, to
e the sum of $2791.00,
Now therefore, said sum of $2791.00
U hereby assessed to the several lots
parts of lota and tracts of land locat-
ed within said Sewer District No 5.

tion and number thereof In Section
3 of this Ordinance, as being benefit-

Will the county bo held responsible
for the death of Mrs. Wllbelm Ott, of
near Clackamas Station on Saturday
morning. This question has been
heard on all Hides and many think

Mrs. Ott had been watching tho
men at work for sometime and 1n no

was afraid to remain In tho house
while a huge stump was being blast
ed. Stopping out from tho rear door
of her residence just as the charge
went off, Mrs. Ott was struck in tho
back by a section of tho stump weigh
ing about 50 pounds, and was almo.u
instantly killed.
Tim forge of the explosion carried
the mlsslo 150 yards nnd over the
roof of the dwelling.
Mrs. Ott was mortally wounded ami
died before a physician could reach
the scene of the accident w rem this
city. She was aged p; years ami Is
survived by a husband and one sis
ter, Mrs. Albert Not, of Clackamas
Station.
The coroner was notified but did
not consider that the circumstances
surrounding the accident, required an
official Investigation. However, he

ed for blasting the stump that was di
rectly responsible for the death of

Clackamas cemetery.

Leonard O'Donald of this city re
ceived severe Injuries in tho calf of
his loft leg, while out coon hunting
Sunday afternoon.

gun, which he had placed against a
stump and discharged the same ac
cidentally. The Injury Is not considered, danger
ously serious.

When daylight broke Sheriff Beatlo
again started driving as far as Mll
wauklo where upon Investigation,
from A. O. Olds, who lives between
Mllwauklo and ClackamaH Station
ho learned that a man with broken
arm, broken nose and a badly bruised
head had called at his house Uto tho
previous night for assistance and a
place to rest.
Mr. Olds expressed hU denim to
take tho man to Oregon City for medl
ral assistance, but tho other wanted
to bo driven to Portland, On account
of tho lateness of the hour and tho
great distance the drlvo ns not at

shelter In tho barn and was well
