Owing to the pre vailing low price of hops, growers In many sections have set the price for picking hups at 'b cents per box. They claim that it will not ay to pick hops unless they can get them gathered at a low rate. Tho hop growers In the vi cinity of Aurora and liuttevillo have, with very few exceptions, determined to pay only L'S cents er box. A meeting of the hup growers in the Salem-Independence district, was held the other day, and they all expressed themselves as unable lo pick their hops unless they could get the work done at "5 cents per box. The growers at this meeting rep resented (C4 acres of hups. The recent rain showers have greatly benefitted the hops, and they are looking much health ier than they were two or three , weeks ago, ami the prosiocta are much better for a good crop. For the pur tsise o( advertising Oregon, tho Pacific Northwest Immigration board will send car of Oregon products to the Minne sota state lair, which will bo held at St, Paul, August 81st to September 5th in elusive. During the time of the state fair the Grand Army encampment la hold in St. Paul and the Knights of Pythias con clave ia held In Minneapolis, so that it is expected that at least one half million people will view Oregon's exhibit. This board will bear tho entire expense of this exhibit, but it is asked that the people of Oregon assist to make an ex hibit worthy of the state.
