ELDORADO (Too Late for Regular Page) A social was given by the Eldorado Red Cross auxiliary at the Eldorado school house Saturday evening, Octo ber 12. It proved quite a success as an entertainment and from which a considerable sum was raised for such a small district. Mr. Loder. was the speaker for the evening and his speech was pro nounced the best ever heard in that community. The music, which was very good, was furnished by a boys' quartet from Oregon City, and by Miss Olis Jackson, who sang a solo. A quilt made by the ladies of the auxiliary, was raffled and brought in over $47.00. Together with the quilt and the numerous articles which were sold, $65.00 were cleared. No branch of the army offers more clmnce'not only for advancement but for learning specialized duties, the knowledge of which will be very valuable later in civil life. Schools are provided to train men to be elec tricians, stenographers, telegraphers, draftsmen, surveyors, telephone men, truck and auto drivers, and various other technical and scientific work. All of this is vitally necessary to the successful operations of the great "heavies" that are being amassed in greater numbers and with more power. Regiments for overseas are being sent at frequent intervals and this is an opportunity for men qualified for this superior service.
