MUCH CLEARING DONE Nearly 300 Licenses to Blast Issued in 2 Months Two hundred and eighty-one pow der licenses have been issued to resi dents of Clackamas county by the clerk's office since the new federal explosives law went into effect on December 1. The large number of permits issued indicates that much land within the county is being cleared preparatory, to spring plant ing. During the month of December, County Clerk Harrington issued 128 licenses, while during the month just passed the number jumped to 153. County School Superintendent Cal avan has issued an urgent request to teachers within the county to vol unteer to aid the board, as recently suggested by the federal authorities. So far the teachers have been slow in volunteering their services. Rape Baby Is Buried The eight days' old -baby of Mr. and Mrs. Rape, of Mount Pleasant, was buried last week in the Zion cemetery near Canby. The child died Tuesday afternoon of spinal trouble.
