The dasheen is itself primarily a tropical plant It can be grown successfully, however, not only In the warmer portions of Florida, but In other sections of the south as rar north as South Carolina. The edible portion of the plant Includes a large central conn and a number of tubers, of much smaller size, attached to and around the corm. In food value the dasheen Is compa rable to the potato, though it contains small proportion of water and a greater proportion of pi rtein, starch and sugar than the latter. The new vegetable may be prepared for the ta ble as potatoes usually are or may be made Into flour and used In baking. The dasheen Is grown from whole tubers weighing a few ounces. They reaulre a frostless season or at least seven months with plenty of moisture. A moist but well drained, rich, sanay How can you make the hours spent in your kitchen BRIGHTER and HAPPIER? Cooking is not REALLY drudgery. There is real satisfactton in being able to make good bread, or cake, or buscuits. DOING THINGS WELL is a very great happiness in itself. The most agreeable tasks are those that bring certain results. And when you can SEE these results for your self and SHOW them to others, you are justly PROUD. Why, then, are you sometimes disheartened because you must spend at least PART of your time in a kitchen? Why do you sometimes almost wish that STOVES had never been invented or that YOU, at least, might be released from having anything to do with one? WHY? Ask Yourself These Questions Is not my frequent distaste for the kitchen due to the fact that my kitch en is often hot and stuffy? Is it not' the accumulation of DIRT and SOOT on pots, pans and stove that discourages me? Might not ONE cause of unhappi ness be the STOVE itself? Isn't it heat and the dirt that comes from the STOVE itself? Isn't it heat and the dirt that comes from the STOVE that gives me back aching worriment? Might not the elimination of these "stove worries" also eliminate my FAILURE? Might it not make possible much greater success with my cooking, thus assuring me real and lasting happi ness in my everyday house-work? 2 It would pay you to find out what ELECTRIC COOKING will do to put an end to these failures and relieve you of the uncertainties and dis couragements of your kitchen hours.
