THOMAS M. MORRIS, Attorney for Plaintiff, Portland, Ore E-M-F "30" TOURING CAR, $1100. THAT TRIPLE VICTORY at Savannah when E-M-F "30V finished one, two, three in the big road race for the Tiede man Trophy, was a typical E-M-F stunti, IT WAS A CLEAN-UP a slaughter. The other cars hadn't a chance from the very first; they were beaten when they entered and should have known it, for doesn't E-M-F "30" hold the world's record for the Atlanta Speedway? Hasn't she beaten them times without number? BUT THEY FIGURED on accidents that a driver might make a miscalculation on takinga turn; that tires might blow up or be punctured or some, other unforeseen thing happen that would put the 30's out of the running. . In that case they might have a chance. BESIDES THEY KNOW it is good advertising just to say they dared enter the lists against the invincible E-M-F "30." And as for reputation well they had everything to gain by a victory and little to lose by defeat. OF COURSE THEY SAID beforehand that while E-M-F "30" had proven herself a great track racer this was to be different. This was a road race with great bursts of speed possible, yet sharp turns that would have to be taken skill fully and even then would subject the chassis to terrific strains and stresses. And they said what they hoped that this car would be unable to stand up under such a test. NOW JUST CONFESS if you were one of the thousands present who stood up and hollered their heads off just admit that even 'you, knowing this great car as you had, never expected to see her do the wonderful stunt she did that day. FOR IT WASN'T ONLY that the three E-M-F "30" cars finished one, two, three, with Captain Witt in the lead, but just think that during the entire 170 miles not one of the three stopped or slowed down for any cause whatsoever! IT LOOKED LIKE A PROCESSION Witt leading by four minutes, Evans and Tower following like shadows and less than a minute apart just enough to avoid accidents at the turns. BUT FOR THE FAST TIME made it was within 10 sec onds of the world's record for th2 distance one would have thought it just a testing jaunt not a race at all. BEST OF ALL it was evident to every onlooker that at any moment should Witt's car falter, either of the other two could instantly have called on his reserve power and taken the lead. But no such thing happened cause why? They were E-M-F "30's" and no road troubles ever do happen to those sterling cars. IT WAS A CLASS C EVENT and so, according to the A. A. A. rules, we are not permitted to state how nearly "stock" these cars were. BUT WE CAN. SAY THIS: If you own an E-M-F "30" car of any vintage from 1908 to 1912 inclusive, Frank Witt, by a day's tuning up, can take your car and duplicate his performance at Savannah. And so can you if vou possess a race driver's knack of adjusting carburetors, etc., and driving skillfully. JUST RECALL, that the car that made the world't record of over 80 miles an hour on Atlanta Speedway was "Old Bullet," the ninth car we built. Witt's car was number 37859. What's the deduction? Why that since 1908 E-M-F "30" has been the greatest car in its class and we are mak ing them just as good now as we did then. No need to say better. Why gild refined gold? EVERY E-M-F "30" IS A GREAT CAR-one Just as good as another and no E-M-F owner was surprised at the Savannah result. He simply chuckled to his friends who owned other cars they had paid $1,600 or more for and said: T toH you so." Studebaker Corporation E-M-F Factories. Detroit.
