A. M. Kirchem, who has been
spending the Christmas holidays with
his family at Logan, left Sunday for
Rosalia, Wash., to resume work with
the locating crew of the Chicago,
Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway, which
is operating under the direction of
D. W. Kinniard.

The neighbors and friends of Jen
nings Lodge tendered a farewell sur
prise on Mr. George Morse at his
ber 28. It was a complete surprise.

Just before the guests departed, Hon.
H. H. Emmons most kindly spoke of
the high esteem In which Mr. Morse
is held by his neighbors, and In their
behalf presented him with a dining
chair. Mr. Morse thanked them
warmly. He Is about to take up his
resldenc In Portland, and his many
friends will wish him success in his
new home.

The auditorium of the McLoughlln
Institute was crowded Friday night
with people in attendance at the
Christmas entertainment given by the
pupils of the school. The affair was
very successful, about $75 being real
ized. The stage was tastefully decor
ated In harmony with the holiday sea
son, with small Christmas-trees and
garlands. After an Interesting pro
gramme was rendered, Santa Claus
appeared and passed around boxes of
candy to the people in the audience.
Saint Nick announced that he saw an
old-time, cold-weather friend in the au
dience in the person of Henry Andres,
who is just down from Alaska. This
sally provoked laughter and applause.
