Une thing is certain, and that waa clearly shown at the meeting the Democrats will place a straight ticket in the field this year and will not be troubled with fusion or independents.! N. F. Nelson, of Logan, urged the party to leave the head of the ticket vaoant, and permit .an independent man to run for state senator, but he was alone, and wbb the only man who voted against J. J. Cooke's motion that the sense of the meeting waa to nominate a Democratic ticket from top to bottom. O. N. Tooze, of Woodburn, Re publican aspirant for the nomination of congressman in the first district, was Tuesday night the guest of Court Robin Hood, Foresters of America, and made a stirring speech, inter mingled with politics.. The Foresters installed officers last.night, and had an enjoyable m eting,' the affair clos ing with ft banquet. Several officers of the Grand Court were presont from Portland.
