With your permission as 11 stock raiser would like to ask a few qnestions with Buch abounding properity. Why is beef and mutton so cheap, when the farmers wants to cell and so dear when the cuetornera wants to buy? Wl y do the Or gon City butchers refuses to buy by the pound, but say, I will give you bo much a head, when we ask what are you giving per pound. They say they are not buying by the pound. Next why do they go to Poitlaud and buy of the stock yard, when the farmers of this county are offering them as good "s the same price? How would the butchers feel if the citizens of Oregon City went to Portland and bought their meal? I was told by one of their customers that when he asked them what they paid for beef, said ; We pay 4 cents per pound for good steers and 3 cents for cowt. When asked if hi could get plenty at that price said, n , the Clackamas farmers want too much for their stock. When in fact this same butcher is offered good beef at leBS and refused to come and look at them. X see by the dispatcheB, that a car load Of good b'ed beef was shipped from Oklahoma to Kansas City, when they arrived the stock only brougnt 1 cent per pound.
