At this event, three songwriters will share the stage with additional musicians occasionally joining in. During the January Round, mu- sician Erin Likker will join two other musicians and a slam poet to perform rounds of music and poet- ry while a visual artist paints. The Portland Round, will be in the 'Undercroft' on the lower lev- el of the Portland Abbey. Doors will open at 7:15pm with the show starting at 8pm. Tickets are $5.00 at the door. This is a non-confrontational commu- nity program designed to build and strengthen communities, work with police, and observe and re- port a host of crime and livability issues. The Oregon Food Bank is offering a training session for Garden Volunteer Educators to teach their Seed-to-Supper pro- gram, a fi ve-week beginning gar- dening course that gives novice, adult gardeners the tools they need to successfully grow a portion of their own food on a limited bud- get. St. Johns Main Street will be hosting a Seed-to-Supper program in St. Johns this spring and would love to have local residents in- volved! There are two training options: Saturday January 16 9am-4pm at Oregon Food Bank Portland, 7900 N.E. 33rd Drive, or Friday January 15 9am-4pm at Oregon Food Bank West in Beaverton. Volunteers will get an overview of their responsibilities, how the program works, and an overview of the curriculum, PowerPoint slides, and hands-on activities. May the 100 years since we became part of the City of Portland in 1915 be the shower of stars that illuminate our path to the future. May the New Year show less greed, more kind- ness not only towards humanity and animals but to Mother Earth and all that has been given freely. My husband and I are both 4th generations of North Portland, we played George Gibbs and Emi- ly Webb in the play Our Town at Roosevelt High School in 1965. We met again while attending Portland State and married in 1970. We just celebrated 45 years of marriage Nov. 28, 2015.
