As the second passenger, 23-year-old Malachi Mandley, was exiting the vehicle, officers spotted a handgun in the car. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a second handgun. Officers later learned both guns were stolen in separate burglaries. The driver, 28-year-old Marchelow Vaida, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Loaded Firearm. Additionally, Vaida was booked on a parole vio- lation. Jeffrey Cooper, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Load- ed Firearm. Additionally, Cooper was booked on a parole violation. Malachi Mandley, was charged with Felon in Possession of a Fire- arm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Load- ed Firearm. The Tactical Opera- tions Division is continuing to in- vestigate several incidents of gun violence citywide. Anyone with information about gun crimes in the City of Portland is encouraged to provide information to the Port- land Police Bureau’s Tactical Op- erations Division at 503-823-4106 or email information to gangs@ portlandoregon.gov. PORTLAND FIRE & RESCUE RESPONDS TO HOUSE FIRE IN NORTH PORTLAND News Release Portland Fire & Rescue Posted on FlashAlert: August 29th, 2015 9:55 AM At 5:07 AM Portland Fire crews were called to 2271 N. Menzies Dr. When firefighters arrived, they found fire in the attic of a small house. The home was searched and the occupant was found safe outside. The fire was extinguished and crews searched for any hidden hot spots. The cause of this fire is under investigation and damage estimates aren’t yet available. MAN SHOT DRIVES HIMSELF TO HOSPITAL News Release Portland Police Bureau Posted on FlashAlert: September 6th, 2015 8:52 PM On Sunday September 6, 2015, at 8:24 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to a Kaiser Permanen- te medical office on North Inter- state Avenue on the report that a man drove himself there after being injured in a shooting. Offi- cers and medical personnel arrived and located the male adult victim suffering from traumatic injuries related to gunfire. He was trans- ported by ambulance to a Portland trauma center for treatment. His vehicle appears to have suffered damage from gunfire. Prelimi- nary information indicates that the shooting may have occurred outside the City of Portland and officers are working with area law enforcement on the investigation. No further information is available and updates will be provided when they can be released. MAN EXPOSES HIMSELF TO 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN AR- BOR LODGE News Release Portland Police Bureau Posted on FlashAlert: September 9th, 2015 6:38 PM On Tuesday September 8, 2015, at 3:51 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report that a man exposed himself to a 10-year-old girl in the area of North Denver Avenue and Bryant Street. Offi- cers spoke with the girl and her mother and learned that the girl was walking home from Chief Joseph School, located at 2409 North Saratoga Street, when she was contacted by a man riding a bicycle. The suspect asked her some questions then exposed his penis to her as he rode his bicycle. The girl ran home and told her mother, who called police. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, medium to thin build, brown hair, mustache, wearing a blue t-shirt, blue base- ball hat, shorts, and black athletic shoes. The bicycle was described as a mountain bike with a rack and saddlebags. Several officers checked the area but did not locate anyone matching the suspect’s de- scription. There is an unconfirmed report that a similar incident hap- pened today near De La Salle North Catholic High School, lo- cated at 7528 North Fenwick Ave- nue, in the Kenton Neighborhood. If any residents in the area of this incident have residential surveil- lance cameras, investigators are asking them to check recordings for any possible images of the sus- pect.
