He moved to North Portland in 1954 and raised his family there until his death. His par- ents were Vale and Mildred Haw- thorne. He was married to Patricia Ann McKeever in Seattle WA on Dec 12, 1953. They were married 54 years until her death in 2007. Gerald attended high school and went into the Army after he mar- ried from 1956 to 1963. He went back to college in the late 70’s and received his Associates degree. Gerald had many jobs in his life- time. He was a truck driver, owned a service station for many years and he retired at 62 from being a Longshoreman for 20 years. Ger- ald was an avid hunter and fi sher- man his entire life. He hunted with his father and brother growing up in Wisconsin and with his brother and sons when he moved to the Pacifi c Northwest. He ran a com- mercial fi shing boat for years and fi shed with his sons in their boats until a few years before his death. He loved the outdoors and always had a big garden and loved his rose bushes. Gerald was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elks Foun- dation, National Rifl e Association and Elks and Moose organiza- tions. Gerald loved his family and was adored by all of them. He was very witty and could tell jokes and stories all day long. He was larger than life and will be missed im- mensely by everyone who knew him. Gerald is survived by his sons Tim Hawthorne (Clackamas OR), Tom Hawthorne and wife Kel- ly Hawthorne (Scappoose OR), Terry Hawthorne and wife Joann Hawthorne (Vancouver WA) and daughter Tammy Firth (McMin- nville OR). Grandchildren- Bran- don Hawthorne, Nicholas Haw- thorne, Elizabeth Kemp, Heather Hawthorne Landtiser, Jared Haw- thorne, Benjamin Hawthorne, Ashley Firth, Alicia Firth and 5 Great Grandchildren. Siblings- Gale Hawthorne, Linda Summers and husband Pete Summers and many nieces and nephews. Step- brothers Paul (Vickie) Pavlas, Jack (Carolyn) Pavlas, and stepsisters Francie, Jeanne and Patty. Prede- ceased by his wife of 54 years Pa- tricia Ann in 2007 and his brother Norman in 2012. Arrangements were entrusted to Hustad Funeral Home. NOTICE OF BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING A public meeting of the Bud- get Committee of the Burling- ton Water District, Multnomah County, State of Oregon, to discuss the budget for the fi scal year July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016, will be held at Holbrook Bible Church, 19200 NW Mor- gan Rd., Portland, Oregon. The meeting will take place on the 15th of April 2015 at 6:45 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to receive the budget message and to receive comment from the public on the budget. A copy of the budget document may be in- spected or obtained on or after April 13th 2015 at 16939 NW Wapato Ave., Portland, Oregon, between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. This is a public meeting where deliberation of the Budget Committee will take place.
