The city of Portland nnd the

to come to any understanding
with the Portland Railway,
Light & Power company relative
to the proposed extension of the
street railway from its present

Why the Electric Cleaner
TIiltc is really no coinpsrlsou
lictuccii the ciiieuml llioiuuxh
iicm with which un Klectrtc
demur removed dirt aud the
difficulty ol sweeping.
True, one CAN clean rus and
carcts without an electric
cleaner. A broom or carpet
sweeper will brush up SO. Ml',
of tliti dirt; ami II you like tin
exercise and have plenty nitiuie
and strength a liroom uud carp
et heater will do the? work ulter
a fashion.
In the same way one can
wush without soap. Water a
loue will remove some dirt if
applied with enough "elhow
grease."
Hut people use soap because
it cleuns more easily aud better
than water alone.
I'or tlie same reason jeop!c
use I'.lcctric Cleaners because
they clean more easily and fur
better than other methods.
