J. H. Harnett look place last Saturday afternoon, at the home on Aita street, at 2 o'clock. By special rcnuost of the deceased, uev. A. C. Moses, pastor of the Waverly Heights Congrega tional church, conducted the services. The pastors of the various St. Johns churches paid tributes to the dead, and also acted as pall bcarors, as did also Revs. Staub and W. Morse, of Portland. Interment took place at (Jpienwoo'l cemetery, Mil er tv Iracey in chiinre. John II. Harnett was born in Hallabny. Ireland, May 17, 1812. hence was past vr years of age when the Anirel of Death sum moned him home. When yet a young man lie came to this country and at Pittsburg, Pa,, in the year of 1881 he was or daiiied minister, nnd for the past years he had been en jrnired in the ininiHtry. The iatur years of his life were spent in Texas and Washington, tie came from the latter state to bt. Johns about a year and a half ago, and became pastor of the Congregational church of this place. In September, 1U1G, he was united in marriage with Mm. Harnett, who survives him. Kov. Harnett was an earnest. faithful and loyal worker in the vineyard of the Lord. No task wan loo dillicult nor no oh stacle too great to overcome in the service of his (Master. Hy his untiring oliortslii mini her of improvements toT the local Congregational edillcejwas accomplished. As a man hotwas well unarmed, congoninl.und made lrionds readily. Hov. Harnett was thoroughly versed in botany and all plant lifu, and it gave him much do i i iigui ami pleasure to take a company of young people out to the hillide and teach them the works of Nature. Probablv few men have attained the thorough knowlodgo of plant life that ho possoHsoil, and he was a great lover of Nature and outdoor I if. Ho had been ill for several months preceding his death, but his friouds had hoped that he would rally and again gain his health, but it was not to bo. Ho gradually grow weaker and weaker, and finally passed into tno arms ot his savior, whom ho had loved so well and served so faithfully. llv sympathy of the entire community goos out to tho com panion who survives, and who will so sadly miss tho cheery word and pleasant smile of the ono who now awaits her on the other shore, For Sale TWO NEW MODERN 4-ROOM BUNGALOWS Easy Terms On Payments Mortgage Loans, and Insurance "Peninsula Security Go.
