Ilo says that ho and Mr, Gould cut 100 ricks of wood and hauled it in four miles during the hottest weather last sum' mer. lie says that tho exercise gave him on appetite like a sawmill and that bo can thon go to bed at eight o'clock and sleep until day light next morning like he used to do when a boy on tho farm. o Mrs. O. Ward, who has been ill more or less for the past two years and growing continually worse was prevailed upon by her friends Mon day of last week to go to the Good Samaritan hospital for an operation for what was supposed to be a tumor The operation was mado and it was found that ono of her kidneys was ulcerated and bad to bo removed and that she was suffering from a gall stone which was removed of a size as large as a quail's egg. Since the operation Mrs. Ward has been doing nicely and her many friends in St. Johns will congratulate her on her bravery in tho undertak ing and sincerely hope for final re covery.
