When to Go Home.
From the Bluffton, Ind., Banner:
"When tired mit, go home. When
you want consolation, go home.
When you want fun, go home.
When you want to show others
that you have reformed, go home
and let your family get aquainted
with the fact. When you want to
show your self at your best go home
and do the act there. When
you feel like being extra liberal go
home and practice on your wife and
children first. When you want to
Shine with extra brilliancy go home
and light up the whole household."
To which we would add, when you
have a bad cold go home and take

The Portland library has pre
sented the free library at St. Johns
with a handsome picture of an old
English castle that makes a very
fine addition to the ornamentation
of the walls. A room on the
ground floor would be much better
for thn library than these upstairs
rooms. The Portland library fur
nishes everything else, our people
ought to be able to furnish a room
on the ground floor.

Frederick Decker and wife of
Inkster, Grand Forks county,

he is greatly pleased with the out

a bunch ot ins people mere and
come to St. Johns to locate perma
nently. Here is the glad hand to
them and we trust the "bunch"
will be a large one.
The mystery is solved. It is
known now why it was so neces
sary for the genial football sport
and all round good fellow, Harry
C. Hunter, secretary of the Port
land Manufacturing company, to
make so many sudden trips to the
coast. Last Sunday Mr. Hunter
and Miss Julia Larson of Marsh

The Knights of Pythias held 0
very fraternal session at their hall
last Friday night. There was no
work and. the evening was spent
for the most part in the "Good of
the Order." Just before the close
Brother W. C. Aldersou preferred
charges against Brother E. B. Hoi
comb, retiring secretary, accusing
mm ot missing mil a single meeting
since he was elected to the office,
of continually looking after the
sick and distressed brothers aud
their families, and last but not
least, that in all the years our
brother had lived iu St. Johns he
had received but one Christmas

charges the delinquent plead guilty.

authority of the grand mogul aud
pronounced sentence upon Brother
Holcomb to be that he should wear

A hunch of the Pythian Sisters
met iu their hall Tuesday night,
gave n short program, ployed
games and enjoyed themselves iu
various ways until the old year
shook hands with the new aud
stepped out into the past. Then
they were joined by n lot ol hungry
knights who assisted them greatly
iu disposing of a large number of
the most delicious cakes that ever
tempted an epicure. There were
all kinds and styles of cukes and
we were so fortunate ns to receive
an invitation to n place between
two of the prettiest sisters who
never allowed our plate to become
empty. They surely know how to
take care of n brother knight.

One often hears the expression,
"My child cought a severe cold

when the truth was that the cold
