ST AN FIELD The Baker Herald, after carefull; considering the situation for some time, has become convinced that R. N. Stan field should receive the solid support of Eastern Oregon. He is one of Eastern Oregon's sons it ho has made good. Stanfleld is a na tive product of Eastern Oregon. He Is interested in the things Eastern Oregon is interested in. "Bob" runs sheep, raises cattle, farms big lrrl- gated ranches. He is also interested In Eastern Oregon's irrigation de velopment. In short he is one of Eastern Oregon's leading farmers, stockmen and business men. Stanfleld's borne Is now In Port land, where he is also heavily inter ested. He knows conditions in all parts of the state and will be a true representative of the people from Curry county to Clatsop and front Malheur to Wallows. Wouldn't lt be nice for once to have a senator from Oregon who actually knew the problems facing Eastern Oregon's de velopment? There are many reasons why re publicans should vote for Stanfleld and why democrats should vote tor Chamberlain; but from a standpoint of state representation, from a con sideration of bread and butter pro blems. It seems that Robert N. Stan fleld should receive a great majority of the votes, especially in Eastern Oregon. A FINAL WORD Before another issue of the Jour nal is off the press, the nation will have selected a new president, and conditions will again be something like normal. That the new president, regardless of which of the candidates Is chosen, will be an Improvement on President Wilson In his condition of health. Is an assured fact" The people know too, that regard less of the party leaders, the nation is not on the road to the bow-wows These party cries are always heard and have long ago proven false. The Indications are that the choice, by an overwhelming vote will be Harding. Tears ago, when everyone was be ing swept along on the popular pro gressive wave, a man of the "Jimmy" type would have made a far better race. Today the antics of Coz In his campaign are but a cheap imi tation of the original Teddy, and re minds one of the many (too many) evangelists who attempt to copy af ter Billy Sunday. The original Is good, but the imitation Is like near beer, it lacks the "kick". While Harding is undoubtedly a coaservative, he Is of the type that the people seem to want; Just how much they want blm will be history by Thursday next Frlneville has a greater variety of resources than any other Interior Oregon town. Prineville has more first-quality concrete sidewalks than all other Central Oregon towns combined. More sheep and cattle are shipped to market from Prineville than any other interior Oregon railway poiut. Do you realize the fact that there Is but one artesian water basin in interior Oregon, and that it is in the Prineville country? Those who are in a position to know the trend of things say that Prineville Is destined to be the city of interior Oregon. Remember this.
