Prineville's railroad bonds sold for more money than any other like bonds have brought for many months in the west, and a number of such issues have been sold. The bids were made with a full j knowledge of the situation, condi tions surrounding he town, and the prospects of development- and there can be no question about the fact that the bonds are of the high est class as an investment. Their sale opens the way for the tonstruction of the railway, which will add to the value of the bonds, and make them even better secured than before SUMMONS. A spinster resident at Bend was taken into instody last Friday be cause she was attempting to jump into the icy waters of the Des titutes, afterward declaring that the wanted a man, which she evi dently considered a good substitute for the river route. It does not develop from the rec ord made public by the officials whether her desire for self destruc tion was caused by the creation of Deschutes county, or just from a too long residence in Bend. Consignments of jack rabbits packed in crates, have passed through the local express office re cently for commission houses in Portland. With a five cent bounty, the meat at a fair price and pros pects of a market for the pelts, it teems that we have failed to appre ciate the jack rabbit.
