Grant Mays of The Dalles was in

Herman Wallace arrived Sunday
from Chickasha, Oklahoma, and
will make his home here with his
father N. G. Wallace.
Storm doors have been provided at
either side of the box office at the
Lyric. This will make it more com
fortable for the patrons.
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Milton re
turned Friday from an extended
trip in the Willamette Valley and
other points in Washington.
The committee arranging for the
music at the community Christmas
tree announce that they will have
band music and a number of other
good special features as well as the
vocal music by the multitude.

the Redmond school district exempt
ed from the county school tax.
The last football game of the
season will be played on Davidson

Bend all-stars and the Prineville i
all-star team. Game starts at 2,
admission 25 cents.
A chicken pie cafeteria supper
will be provided in the Methodist
school rooms on Saturday evening
from 4.o0 on. Articles from one
cent to fifteen cents. Good home
cookng'and ample servings.
The county court is contemplat
ing the'placing of metal road signs
at all the crossroads in the county.
The expense of such a project will
be nothing as compared to the bene
fit the traveling public would de
rive from them.
At the Presbyterian church next
Sunday evening at 6.30 a Christian
Endeavor consecration meeting.
Leader, Miss Verna Smith. Also

all members be present. Strangers
are requested to visit us.
A petition which originated in
Portland, asking that the matter of
the Sunday closing law be placed
on the ballot at the 1916 election
was being circulated in this city the
last of the week, and was being
quite generally signed.
Superintendent J. E. Myers has
been busy for some time past visit
ing the schools of the county. He
says that the schools have a higher
average ofjefficiency than they had a
few years ago, and that the teahers
are adopting a more uniform system
in the conduct ef the schools. "
Mayor Edwards has a communi
cation from the officials of the live
stock show at Portland iniviling the
citizens of Prineville to attend the
annual show at North Portland,
commencing on next Monday and
continuing to and including Satur
day. No admission will be charged,
and fare and a third on the rail
roads will prevail.
The K. of P. Thanksgiving ball
was voted by all those who attended
as being the social even of the sea
son. While the hall would have ac
commodated a few more people there
was a large crowd present which
made the event a financial success as
well. These people plan to stage
another event of the kind early in
the year. Watch for their announce
ments. A notice has just been issued by
the state board of fish and game
commissioner which prohibits fish
ing in the Deschutes river, any of
its tributaries, or lakes from which
it flows for a period commencing
on December 10 this year and ex
tending until March 30 next. The
reason is given in the notice as
being that the stock of trout is
being materially reduced because 1
of excessive fishing.
