2 TORPEDO-BOATS .'
SUNK BY BRITISH
London. A Gorman submarine sank
the Urltlsh destroyer Recruit off the
Galloper lightship in the North Sea.
Other British destroyers after a stern
chase overtook and sank the two Ger
man torpedubontfl that had accompan
ied the submarine on her crulne.
The deBtroyer Recruit was on pa
trol duly when Uie submnrine sank
her. The vessel signaled for assist
ance, and her call was answered by
the trawler Daisy, and 30 men out of
her complement of 65 were saved.

TORPEDO SINKS U. S. SHIP
A German Submarine Makes Attack
Off Scllly Islands.
London. The American oil tank
steamship Gulfllght was sunk by a
German submarine off the Scllly Is
lands, according to a dispatch to the
Central News Agency. The Gulfllght
sailed from Port Arthur, Tex., April
10, for Rouen, France.
The captain died from heart failure
s a result of shock, and two seamen
Jumped overboard and were drowned.
The other members of the crew were
taken off by a patrolboat and landed.
The vessel was towed Into Crow
