Mrs. S. S. Black and son Randall
of Blizzard ridge were in town last
Saturday.
Wm. Tackman passed through
Prineville today on his return from
a trip to The Dalles. Mr. Tackman
owns a stock ranch near Held.

turned from the Columbia hospital

A fire at 8 o'clock Friday morn
ing destroyed the Delore residence
in the north end of the city. The
loss was partly covered by insur
ance. Buford F. Bronson of Terre
bonne and Gertrude Schrocder of
Salem were married at the Metho
dist parsonage by Rev. Newham at
2 P. M. on Wednesday.
The Ladies Aid society of the
Presbyterian Church will meet with
Mrs. C. W. Foster Thursday, April
8, at 2:30 P. M. Members and
friends of the church invited.
Mrs. McCoy mother of Mrs.Harry
Webb is visiting at the home of her
daughter at Grizzly. Mrs. McCoy is
an old time resident of Crook
County.

Prineville the last of the week
He is of the firm of Drs. Lowe &
Tuner, opticians. These gentlemen
expect to visti Prineville every six
weeks in the future.
The second grade class of the
Prineville public school will cele
brate Eugene Field day in song and
story on Friday of this week, exer
cises beginning at 2 P. M. Parents
come out ana encourage tne little

The Foresters organized a lodge
in Prineville Saturday evening.
They initiated a large class and a
banquet was had after the cere
monies.
J. H. Christensen of Paulina
passed through Prineville the first
of the week on his way to Redmond
for a load of supplies.

ers for Next Year

The Prineville public school
board - met last night and elected
teachers for the coming school
year. Hon. W. M. Sutton who is
now principal of the Burns schools
was chosen for the principalship.
Mr. Sutton was a member of the
last legislature from Lane county,
has held principalship positions in
the Springfield and Enterprise
schools and comes highly recom
mended. The remainder of the teaching
staff will ramain as at present. The
teachers for the grades are: May
Hewes, Emily Shreder, Ruth Haw
ley, Myrtle Jcfferies, Jane Allen,
Mrs. Wigle and Mrs. Gray.

Berlin, via London. A wireless dis
patch received from Constantinople
says:
"It Is seml-offlclally announced and
most emphatically the British war
ships Agamemnon, Lord Nelson, Corn
wallls, Dublin and the French ships
Bouvet, Suffren and Saphlr all have
been damaged in the Dardanelles fight
ing. The British battleship Queen
Elizabeth has been struck by three
heavy shells."
