Miss Nellie Summers returned to
Portland last week.
Regular services Sunday at the
Presbyterian church.
The total registration in Crook
county this year is 2953.
Miss Blanche Wilson left the first
of the week for the Coast.
Mrs. J. E. Warner of Roberts
was shopping in Prineville Saturd y.
Mr. and Mrs. John R. Stinson
left the first of the week for Port
land. Prineville defeated Redmond 11-2
last Sunday at Davidson field base
ball park.
Dick Long came in the first of
the week from McMinnville on a
visit to his parents.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Washburn of
Suplee were transacting business
in Prineville Friday.
"The Holy Spirit" is the subject
of the sermon Sunday jnorning at
the Methodist church.
Misses Bertha and Fay Baldwin
left Saturday for Portlandto spend
several weeks visiting friends and
relatives.
Mr. Shaw of Haycreek is the new
seventh grade teacher in the Prine
ville school. He has Miss Brobst's
class.
J. L. McDaniel will move out to
the country tomorrow. He has
leased the old Vandevert place at
Powell Butte.
W. H. Coahran and Miss Lelia
B. Davis of Howard were granted
the necessary papers Saturday to
become man and wife.
Mrs. Garfield and Chase Garfield,
mother and brother of Mrs. Carey
W. Foster, left Saturday for their
home in Walla Walla.
Mrs. R. A. Ford left Tuesday
with her son. Will, and wife for the
John Day valley. She will spend
the winter on the ranch near Day
ville. Mrs. Alex Thomson and mother,
Mrs. Huston, left today for Port
land. Mrs. Huston has sold her
place to Alex Davenport. She will
spend the winter in the Willamette
valley.
The Crook County High School
football team defeated the high
school boys from Bend Saturday by
a score of 14 to 0. The game was
called at the end of the third
quarter so that the boys could reach
Redmond in time to catch the train
home.
John South and family of Inde
pendence arrived in Prineville this
week. He crossed the mountains
by the Santiam route. He had a
hard time of it. Between two and
three feet of snow was encountered.
He is looking for a location in this
country.
The high school contest last Fri
day evening resulted in a victory
for the Ochoconians. This is the
second time they have won the ban
ner. Miss Leola Estes won first
place over contestants in all depart
ments. Mabel Slayton took first in
the dramatic and Clarence Bixby
first in the oratorical.
The dinner that was advertised
to be given on election day and pro
ceeds to be applied to the M. W. A.
band's instrument fund, has been
postponed until a later date. How
ever, the ladies will serve you Sat
urday at Kamstra's store with all
kinds of good things to eat. The
boys will be on hand with their
usual concert Saturday evening at
7:30.

F. H. Watts of The Dalles was in
Prineville this week.
H. E. Rhoads of Madras was a
county seat visitor Friday.
Miss Hattie Houston of Roberts
is visiting relatives in town.

Orville Davis of Haycreek, a girl.
J. R. Mendenhall of Opal City
was a Prineville visitor Wednesday.
Grant Mays of The Dalles was
registered at the Prineville Wednes
day. J. D. Basey of Cottage Grove
was registered at the Oregon Fri
day. Jack Simpson of Kentucky has
accepted a position with Clifton &
Cornett.

being his 15th birthday. About

celebrate his natal day.

League will be held at the Baptist
church Saturday, Nov. 2nd., at 3
p. m. All members are requested
to be present as there is important
business to transact By order of
the president.
A number of business men and
members of the Commercial Club
met Monday nightjat the Oregon
Grill to discuss measures for the
betterment of Prineville. There
was music and! plenty to eat nor
was local pride and enthusiasm
lacking. Get together. That's the
only way to accomplish anything.

and he ha furnished only about half of tbem.
