Entertainment For
Boys' Gymnasium
The musical and literary enter
tainment given Wednesday even
ing by the high ichool, under the
direction of Rev. Lininger, was
thoroughly enjoyed by all who
were fortunate enough to hear it.
The huh school was assisted by
pupils from the public school and
other musical talent of the city.
The choruses were sung by about
fifty voices' and showed much
careful work and training.
Some of the selections deserving
Epecial mentiou were the duet by
Mesdames Eikins and Coe, "Morn
ing Invitation," in which the solos
were effectively rendered by Mrs.
Coe and Miss Conway; the Night
ingale Chorus by the young laiies
of the high school, the reading by
Miss Gitchel, the instrumental
duet by Misses Milliorn and Noble,
and last, but among the best, the
chorus, by fifty boys and girls of
the public school.
The college song3 ranged all the
way from ''Mary and Her Lamb"
to the well known song, "We
Meet Again." All of the?e were
eung with a spirit and vim that
showed the boys and girls were up
and doing.
The proceeds of the entertain
ment go toward swelling the fund
for the boys' gymnasium.
Prineville to Play
Burns in Near Future
Basketball has been given a de
ckled Impetus following the receipt
of a letttr from Burns requesting a
game with the locals at Burns In the
near future, with the privilege of a
return game on our floor later. The
boys have begun practice at the
Club Hall; new buskets having leen
put up which are a great improve
ment over those formerly used.
The Burns five Is reported to be a
clever bunch of basket tossers which
Is apparent from the fact that the
team Is composed of Iteed, who
toured the last with the Oregon
team that made such a splendid
record, a former O. A. C. star and
three other equally classy players.
It Is possible that the first game
will be played at Burns, either Sat
urday, the 23rd, or on Christmas
night, with the return game here on
New Year's day. There is not much
doubt but that these games will be
of the whirlwind variety, with the
winning team grabbing the laurels
by a very slender margin. Record
crowds will be on hand to enjoy the
excitement.
Prineville should have a strong
five this year with the amount of
I good material on hand. The follow
ing men are candidates for places on
the five: Forwards, Brewster, Kills,
Laogdell; center, "Shorty" Foster,
Hoy McCallister; guards, It. McCal
lister, Van Orshoven, Bechtell, Uld
dings. A number of the new aviation
caps in dainty and durable shades
at the Iiazaar Dec. 8th, Odd Fel
lows' Hall.
