The new Bchoolhouse is nearing

Part of E. L. Ivereon's goods
have arrived and he has opened

arrivals who have purchased land

A. A. Bonney, state organizer for
the grange, was in these parts last
week and talked up the matter to
some extent. He will probably re

A light run of typhoid in which

again the goodness of our Red

was called on Wednesday and the

Appeal to Voters by Mrs. Duniway
Gentlemen, voters, eons, broth
ers: I am growing old, but I can
not rest until you have given us
the victory. Every hour I spend
in this service is a labor of love.
Every dollar I donate is a personal
sacrifice. Have the faithful
mothers of Oregon not earned your
affirmative votes for their full and
free enfranchisement? You ought
not to be afraid of us.
You are equipped with ballots.
We are not. We are depending up
on you to honor our flag of truce
by voting Yes in our behalf in this
unequal contest. You know you
would only compel us to repeat
this struggle in 1910 if you should
fail us now. But we believe you
will not fail. You have but to un
lock the door to the closed citadel
of liberty, leaving us free to choose
for ourselves, exactly as you do, as
to whether to vote or not to vote,
at every succeeding election. Thus
only can you acquit yourselves as
freemen and relieve ub from
further effort to secure equality
with our sons before the law.

Mother of Native Sons, and Presi
dent of Oregon State Equal Suf
frage Association.

World Record Captured
By "Reo" Touring Car
We have just received a telegram frrom J. T. Shettler, of Lou
Angeles:
F. A. BENNETT, Agent, Los Angeles, Cal., April IT, 1908.
Portland, Oregon.. .-
Reo captured worlds record non-stop-engine run, 4992 mile
made In twelve days, two hours, thirty-live minutes; averaged
seventeen miles to gallon of gasoline, and over seventeen milet
per hour; fifteen gallons of water used In engine cooler.
LEON T. SHETTLEIt.
The above Is self-explanatory, except that it will lie necessary
for you to stop and think what a wonderful performance this Is.
especially with a two-cylinder car. This engine ran continuously
for twelve days, two hours and thirty-five minutes without
coming to a stop and the average mileage of this car was over
four hundred miles per day. This distance of 4992 miles Is as far
as from New York City to San Francisco and from San Fraucisco
back to the Mississippi Kiver, and is as far as the average family
car would be run In two seasons. This is simply another proof
of the wonderful reliability of the Iteo car. This broke the
previous record by eighty-six miles, the previous 'record lielng
held by the Premier car, which we are also prond to represent,
the best previous record having lieen l.'iOO miles lesss. Adding
this to the fact that the Reo and the Premier were the only two
cars costing under $m0 contesting for the Glldden trophy In the.
Glidden tour of 1907, which passed through seven states at a.
distance of almost 1600 miles, over mountains and all kinds or
muddy roads, with a perfect score, and that Immediately after
finishing this strenuous trip the Reo made a non-stop run from
New York City to the Jamestown exposition, a distance of 500
miles, in twenty-three hours and twenty-four minutes. We
certainly believe that this is positive proof that the Reo and
Premier cars are the very best in their chiss for strength and
reliability.
