Crook County Journal THURSDAY, APRIL 4, 1907. Subscription f 1.50 year. Macbeth. In the prwentation of "Macbeth" last Friday evening our local tal ent acquitted themselves credit ably. The leading parte were ex ceptionally well taken for ama teuro, but notwithstanding a big house the production was not, financially, a success. The Rev. Mr. Mitchell explains the matter in this way. In a play of long ago the property had to be made new in order to be in keeping with the times portrayed. The swords were antique and hand made as were also most of the daggers. The tunics, sandals, pporrans, etc., that belong to the past ran up a big exjH'nse bill. However, this property may be used again in the presentation of Roman or Italian dramas. While the expense- was big to properly stage the piece Mr. Mitchell thinks a great deal was accomplished when a drama, taken from the choicest literature of the world's library, was given so well by local talent. The orchestra, consisting of five pieces, was under the direction of A. H. Kennedy. It was up to its usual high stand ard of excellence. The receipts were 1102.40; expenses, $128.30, leaving a deficit of $25.1X1. Sisters Happenings. Editor Journal The weather of the past few days has been warm with plenty of sunshine. K. H. The Boise Capital News has this to say of the business man who does not advertise: "The man who does not adver tise simply because his grandfather did not, ought to wear knee breeches and a queue The man who does not advertise because it costs money, should quit paying rent for the same reason. The man who does not adver tise because he tried it and failed, should throw away his cigar lo calise the light went out. The man who does not advertise because he doesn't know how him self, ought to stop eating because he can't cook. The man who does not advertise because somebody said it did not pay, ought not to believe the world is round lecause the ancients said it was flat." Additional Locals. V. K.
