Shot Through the Hud.
Carelessness came near costing
Henry Falkner ol Paulina his
life Sunday afternoon. He was
out hunting with a companion
when Faulkner happened to see
that his friend's gun waa pointed
toward him. He reached out his
hand to push it away when it was
discharged. The charge of shot
passed through his right hand be
tween the thumb and forefinger.
The finger bone was blown out and
the band was otherwise shattered.
Had it not been for the fact that
the hand was right over the muzzle
of the gun it would have been
blown all to pieces. As it is it
may be possible to save it. The
young man was brought to Prine
ville Monday and placed under
the care of Dr. Rosenburg.

A little "kid scrap" developed Into
quite A neighborhood row Saturday.
A 10-year-old boy named Warren
Jones and a girl named Anna Carter,
About 10 years of age, had some
ords which finally resulted In the
lad getting a paddling In which the
girl wielded the stick. The adopted
father of the boy did not relUh the
Idea of a girl usurping his parental
functions so had her arrested
charged with assault and battery,
The case came up for hearing before
Justice Luckey who fined the maiden
f 5 and then as promptly remitted It,
Both the boy and the girl were given
a good fatherly talk by the judge who
admonished them of the necessity of
dwelling together In peace and
amity.
