Xocal 1 W. H. Cyrus, of Sisters, was a Princ- ville visitor Friday. Mrs. G. V. Aldrich has been quite sick lor several days. John Combs returned Monday from bis trip to California. Ed White arrived Friday from a trip to valley points. 8. H. Lyons returned Saturday from Upper Crooked river. John Henderson and Walt Luckey left Friday on a businesi trip to Port land. Mrs Win. McVay, of this city, is in a critical condition and is not ex pec ed to live. George V. Beatty, the Rostand post master, was doing bnsincss in our city during the week. Warren Glaze is expected home bout March 1st from Portland, where he has been studying music. Ed. Harbin returned Saturday from the Upper Crooked river country where he hud a bridge contract. P. J. 0. Leary and wife, of B midji, Minn . were in our city last week at tending to timber business. They left Thursday foi The Dalles. This is Mr. John son's first trip but he will be equal to the emergency. R. L. CapCornett, of the Burns Prine ville stage line, arrived in our city last Friday for a fow day's atay. He re ports business good on his line, and that his prospecte of a material in crease in passenger tralho are of the host. This line is among the best equipped and managed in the state. Tho rush of people after timber claims does not appear to at ate very much. The snow in the m mitains does not stop them. They all have an abiding faith in our timber and the rush this spring will be immease from the East on account of the cheap rates which are now in effect. Dr. W. W. This is a contract awarded by the County Court at its last regular ses sion, and- fi'ls a long felt want by Prineville travelers going east, as the water has been so huh at times that the road at this point was impassible. Mr. J. P. Yancey while hauling a load of hav last Satu day had the mis fortune to get his left arm broken. He went down to the Ketch mi place to get his load and on coming through the gate, be took one of the horses by the bits and started to lead them through. In doing so his arm was caught between the gate post and the end of the n ck yoke and broke one of the bones above the wrist and dis located the other one. Child announces that there is a strong probability of having a large gopel tent and one of their best singing evangelists here as early as May. Let as many in the county as desire this, write or see Mr. Child and uy how much they are willing to subscribe toward it. It is possible to buy a tent and have it for use through out the county. About $200 will pay all expenses and we shall have a taber nacle that will last us seveial years and be a great help in establishing work in the county.
