to put us in the lead.”
The Senators, however, put together
a substantial threat in the top of the sev-
enth, starting the frame with a walk and
a base hit.
Instead of sticking with his bullpen,
Torcato elected to put in Logan Dubbe,
the Volcanoes top pitcher, who was
already scheduled to throw two days
later, to come into the game with two on
and no one out.
The move worked out brilliantly for
the Volcanoes.
After Malcolm Dowell laid down a
sacrifice bunt to advance the runners,
JaVon Logan was intentionally walked
to load the bases. But in the face of
adversity, Dubbe struck out the next
two batters to end the contest and give
the Volcanoes the victory.
“He is a bulldog and he wanted to do
it. Logan got ready quickly and he shut
them out,” Torcato said.
