The deal was four cakes a month, whichever offi cer agreed to pick them up got to take one of the cakes home to their family. She typically called the Wampler home or Lt. An- drew Copeland at the offi ce when the cakes were ready. “She meant business,” said Katie Wampler. “A few times, Tyler had to explain that he was on his motorcycle, but she didn’t care. He would have to LOANS, continued from Page A1 are truly entering their names into a lottery. The names of businesses that meet the conditions of the loan will be put into a bucket and randomly drawn. In January, prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States and massive economic shutdowns, the city agreed to accept strap the cakes down and de- liver them to the department.” Olson suffered a heart attack in January and it led to discov- ering continual build-ups of excess fl uid in her lungs. She ended up in the hospital twice before deciding she wanted to spend her birthday at home. “We were fortunate in the fact that she was able to come home and spend her 83rd birthday with us. We had that last week with her and she passed peacefully – exactly where she wanted to be in the chair where she spent a lot of time and surrounded by fami- ly,” Newman said. Olson was always the fi rst to volunteer when anything needed baking, a request for a few dozen cookies could easily turn into 60 dozen by the time she was fi nished, but her spirit of giving knew no bounds. “She and my dad always ap- preciated people in everything they did. I remember we had a couple of kids who needed a place to stay knock on our door late at night. One of them stayed with us until she grad- uated high school,” Newman said. Part of the agreement was determining how the money, which is coming from the Oregon Lottery, would be used. Numerous possibilities were mentioned, but all fell them to the wayside in the wake of COVID-19’s spread. Because the money will be received in three installments – the fi rst was approved Monday – the city is borrowing $30,000 from the community development budget. That action was approved alongside the acceptance of the fi rst installment from Marion County. The community development budget largely pays for the wages and benefi ts of employees that oversee planning, permitting and code enforcement. The money will be repaid as the payments from Marion County roll in over the next two years. KEIZER CLASSIFIEDS SERVICES SERVICES SERVICES DIRECTV - Switch and Save! $39.99/month. ONAC obituaries Submit an obituary through our website at keizertimes.com or send an email to: editor@keizertimes.com Sandra ‘Sandy’ Lou Olson April 20, 1937 – April 26, 2020 Born on April 20, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa, Sandy Ol- son went to be with our Fa- ther in Heaven and reunited eternally with her husband, Ole, on April 26, 2020. Sandy was a warm, kind and generous woman who was loved by all who knew her. Having owned and op- erated bakeries and donut shops, she was well known for her incredible baking skills. Whether it was making cus- tom cakes, baking cookies by the car load for her church mission team, or baking her monthly donation of coffee cakes to the local police de- partment, Sandy was always at home in the kitchen. Sandy baked because she not only enjoyed it, but be- cause she loved to see the smiles on people’s faces when she would hand them a plate of goodies “just because.” But baking wasn’t her only pas- sion. Sandy’s goals in life were to be a good wife and a good mother, and she excelled at both of these. Sandy had four beautiful boys and two precious girls, all of whom she loved fi ercely. She loved and adored children and was an amazing mother, which with time lead her to be an unforgettable grandma or ‘Nami’ as most called her. S. Olson Sandy en- joyed spend- ing time with her family and friends, listening to gospel music, watching game shows, and always loved a good joke. Sandy is survived by her brother, Leland Smithson; sister, Nola Jacobson; sons, Kent Fuller, Denny Fuller, Lyle Fuller, and Marv Ol- son; daughters, Karla New- man and Nola Wilkerson; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her hus- band and true love, Norvin ‘Ole’ Olson. A celebration of life will be held later this summer. Become a published author! ONAC on any of those dates, so even accelerating that allows us to do deeper work than what we were able to do on the original schedule. It would be great if we could say in mid- August that we were ready to open up sooner, but we won’t be able to do that until we get much closer to the end date,” Wolfe said. “Moving forward, even by a week or two, gives us more fl ex in the schedule if something came up that we needed to address.” Wolfe also noted that con- struction will be accelerated at Claggett Creek Middle School, which is why the school is no longer being used as a food distribution location. Contractors are responsible for the safety of the actual site. But amid the coronavirus, the district is still making sure that safety protocols are being followed. “We have asked each contractor to share those protocols with us so we can take a hard look at them,” Wolfe said. “We have some pretty solid protocols in place for social distancing as a district.” Ruth Noemi Morales McNary High School Graduate Get a SMARTPHONE for $0 DOWN* with AT&T Next® and AT&T Next Every Year & #8480 1) Pick Your New Phone. 2) Pick Your Plan.
