M emorial C enters ◆ C remation & B urial Simplicity - Convenience - Low Cost simple cremation simple direct burial traditional funeral ◆ $695 ◆ $995 ◆ $2965 By BROOKLYN FLINT and ERIC A. HOWALD Of the Keizertimes It was free to enter, but $5 to leave. If attendees tried to escape without paying, the ticket-checker was wearing roller skates to chase them down. It was Font Club: the Mu- sical or, at least, video with a live action training montage complete with the Font Mafi a fi nger-snapping chorus. Members of the McNary High School Font Club came up with a unique way to raise money and, they hope, re- move comic sans fonts from school buses. To help with the effort, there was merch in- cluding offi cial T-shirts, stick- ers and signed photos of the cast. Font Club: The Musical is the story of Wingdings, a nerdy, unintelligible font, being bul- lied by the popular Comic Sans. Fortunately, Wingdings fi nds an ally in Times New Roman. The two overcome a language barrier and Wing- dings, backed by Font Mafi a, eventually stands up to Comic Sans. Music for the movie was played entirely on kazoos and found instruments. A ka- zoo-variant of The Star Span- gled Banner kicked off the ABOVE: Gabriel Englert, Julia DaSilva, Aiden Wilson, Ben Sheets, Morgan McClain and Edward Hyson along with teacher Paul Shuirman. RIGHT: Aiden Wilson, as Wingdings, takes part in a live action training montage. KEIZERTIMES/ Brooklyn Flint showing. There were many tears spilled by the roughly two dozen attendees – laugh- ter was the primary source. Members of Font Club ex- pect it will take more screen- ings to achieve their ultimate goal of purging comic sans from buses. obituaries Submit an obituary through our website at keizertimes.com or send an email to: editor@keizertimes.com Salem Portland Eastside 275 Lancaster Dr. SE Salem, OR 97317 832 NE Broadway Portland, OR 97232 1433 SE 122nd Ave. Portland, OR 97233 (503) 581-6265 (503) 783-3393 (503) 783-6865 Tualatin Tigard Milwaukie 8970 SW Tualatin Sherwood Rd.
